Personally I prefer to buy my kitchen knife individually so that I have more control to what I have. It’s not that I don’t like the standard knife set. But as you can see, sometime most of the knife sets come with steel knife sharpener rather then ceramic knife sharpener. Well, if you don’t mind the trouble to think through what you going to get for each individual knife like bread knife, boning knife, pair knife, chef knife and etc, then buying standard knife set is for you.
